June Book Club Pick and Gaming Club Pick
June: A new Month & Overview of what is happening
We are 1 day away from the start of a new month and aside from January and March, every other month has passed by so quickly and now we are about halfway through the year!
We are starting June with 3 cozy hobbies club going on at the same time and they are all so varied you get to pick what you want to be a part of! They are all primarily happening in discord but if you do prefer Fable for the book clubs, those are still open:
Cottagecore Fantasy Book Club: We are reading House of Frank by Kay Synclaire and published by a Bindery Imprint (Ezeekat)
Ifrits & Ink: We are going to be reading a novella called A Dead Djinn in Cairo, which is a fantasy murder novella set in Egypt (sticking to our MENA inspired or setting based fantasy books)
Cottagecore Witchy Gaming Club: We are going to be playing Wylde Flowers as a chat based Gaming Club
Cottagecore Fantasy Book Club
I started a Cottagecore Fantasy book club for us to read those witchy centred books that make us feel like we are frolicking in the forest. To be fair, we have not been focusing on Witchy reads yet & this is our first month doing so.
And as we are just starting in Bindery, I am super excited to pick House of Frank, which is one of the first few books that was published by Bindery Books through Ezeekat Imprint.
I'm so excited for this book. It is a cozy read with heavy topics like Grief and if you have been following for a while, you'll know that I lost my grandmother in September 2023 and she was one of my best friends. Cozy Fantasy books always allow me to process grief differently & in a wholesome way.
Ifrits & Ink: A Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Fantasy Inspired Book Club
I started Ifrits & Ink with Mona, who you can meet in discord too! We both love fantasy books that are inspired by MENA folklore or set in a MENA region. This means reading books about Jinns, Ghouls and reading about folklore like Alf Layla wa Layla (One Thousand Nights and One night) like our previous two book club picks: The Sandsea Trilogy
This is a platform for us to read about folklores that are part of our culture and home. We are both from different parts in the MENA region and now live away from it.
Our book club is for everyone who wants to learn more about this setting & folklore. We hope you'll join us in embarking on an adventure through these stories
Cottagecore Witchy Gaming Club
And finally, here is my Cottagecore Witchy Gaming Club! This is something you might not know about me but I am deaf/Hard of Hearing (HoH) and struggle a lot with discord due to alot of channels being voice channel gaming communities. As part of my disability, I will need captions in order to hear those around me.
When deciding how to frame and format my gaming club, I have deiceded to focus on chat based community with a focus on witchy cozy games. We will still have voice channels for those of you who wish to be able to play together as well!
We will start with Wylde Flowers for our 1st month.
And that's it! I hope to see you in any of the clubs if they interest you and if not, thank you so much for joining my Bindery community!
